“We did this on our first day in Zagreb, first day in Croatia in fact! It was the perfect thing to do if you don’t know much about Croatian food or the history of Zagreb. Would definitely recommend. We didn’t eat beforehand and it’s lucky we didn’t because we got big amounts of food!”

From Zagreb: Fairytale Castle & Wine Tasting & Lunch

5.Fairytale Castle & Wine Tasting & Lunch

★★★★★★★★★★4.8 · 28 reviews · 7 hours · from $329

Escape Zagreb for Trakoscan Castle, four Croatian wines, hillside views, and a generous local lunch on a seven-hour small-group tour.

“What a wonderful contrast to being in a large group on a tour bus. Robert hosted only 3 of us. We basically had the castle to ourselves. The drive through the countryside was a nice change to the rush of Zagreb’s cityscape. The Vuglec Breg winery was a real treat. Beautiful setting, surprisingly good variety of white, red, and sparkling wines. And the meal! Tasty duck & veal from their Michelin star restaurant. Robert was not only a good driver but also provided good conversation about Croatia, both present and historical.”

Fairytale Castle & Wine Tasting & Lunch

6.Fairytale Castle & Wine Tasting & Lunch

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 19 reviews · 8 hours (approx.) · from $343

Tour Trakoscan Castle, a second historic home, and Vuglec Breg winery on a full-day Croatian countryside trip from Zagreb.

“We had a very nice time on our tour to Trakoscan Castle and Vuglec Winery. Our guide Robert was friendly, timely, professional, and lovely to chat with about life in Croatia. The castle and museum are excellently restored, well kept, provide a lot of information, and clearly have some artifacts that one would not see anywhere else. Vuglec was heaven on earth - lovely views, friendly staff, great food, and plenty of good wine. Our only regret was spoiling our dinner - if you’re going to Vuglec, skip breakfast and plan on a light dinner, because the lunch is plentiful!”
